Microsoft unveils Surface Laptop Ultra with Nvidia RTX Spark SoC from $2,599

At its first live event in two years, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, its first device built on Nvidia's RTX Spark SoC, starting at $2,599 and shipping October 16 (pre-orders open now).
- Configurations include a 5120-core or 6144-core Blackwell GPU and up to 128GB of LPDDR5x unified memory
- Unified memory allocation instead of fixed VRAM lets it run AAA titles (Gears of War: E-Day demoed live) as well as local AI development and deployment
- The event also outlined Windows 11 AI changes and a vision of local-AI and agentic workflows reshaping personal computing
