davidad outlines 'specs for a good future': a spectrum of chosen opt-outs from AI

AI safety researcher davidad published a Gist, "Some specs for a Good Future," listing object-level characteristics of a good future for humanity. The core idea is a "chosen dehumanization spectrum": futures should allow diverse levels of buy-in — from the North Sentinelese remaining isolated, to the Amish avoiding electricity, to people opting for a pre-2008 or pre-2022 way of life. A good future isn't universal AI adoption, but preserved space for voluntary exit. repligate and Soareverix shared it approvingly.
