OpenAI's fired safety researchers wrote a leadership letter; safety exec "strongly agreed"

Per reporter Max's scoop: after being fired, three OpenAI safety researchers sent a letter to company leadership. One of OpenAI's safety leaders reportedly "strongly agreed" with the letter's recommendations, yet maintained the firings "were not about raising safety concerns or speaking out." A thread also notes two of the three were lead authors of the major CoT monitoring position paper. OpenAI has yet to offer a public explanation, and details remain undisclosed.
