Per Max's scoop, the 3 safety researchers fired by OpenAI wrote a letter to leadership after being let go. One of the company's safety leaders "strongly agreed" with the letter's recommendations but maintained the firings "were not about raising safety concerns or speaking out." Garrison Lovely notes OpenAI has offered no good explanation and hasn't widely shared information internally, which he argues will have a chilling effect on staff; he is soliciting tips via Signal.
