Higgsfield cofounder: SWE demand will collapse by end of 2027
SimplyAnnisa · x · 2026-10-08
Higgsfield cofounder Alex Mashrabov predicts demand for software engineers will collapse by the end of 2027. He says zero engineers at Higgsfield write code manually anymore, and the company's new Ad Multiplier makes creative production programmable too.
The argument is economic: more products compete for the same customers, and every LLM improvement makes it worse, while attention and trust stay flat — so distribution becomes the binding constraint. He cites Anthropic's figure that 79% of Claude Code conversations are already classified as automation, including workflows with human feedback.
His conclusion: engineers who build a career around implementation compete with falling inference costs, while those who build and own a customer-acquisition system benefit from them. Paid marketing should therefore be treated as an engineering discipline — an optimization problem with noisy feedback, delayed rewards and a budget constraint.
