NYC Council holds rare AI risk hearing as AI Now urges 'maximize friction'

The New York City Council convened a rare Committee of the Whole hearing this week to examine AI risks. AI Now Institute's Aashna Agarwal testified, urging the Council to 'maximize friction' if and when AI is integrated into city systems, address harms New Yorkers already face, and not lose sight of the concentration of power in AI.
