Set Haiku 5.5 autocompact to 100K to stay in the cheap $0.10/$0.50 pricing tier
lydiahallie · x · 2026-10-08
Anthropic's Lydia Hallie shares a cost trick for API-billed users: set Haiku 5.5's autocompact window to 100K (/model haiku then /autocompact 100k) so prompts stay under the cheaper tier. Under 100K tokens it's $0.10/$0.50 per million ($0.01 cache reads); above 100K it jumps to $0.50/$2.50 ($0.05 cache reads). The setting is saved per model, so it only affects Haiku including subagents.
