Anthropic has released Claude Haiku 5.5, billed as its cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model yet.
- Pricing: 90% lower than Haiku 4.5 for requests up to 100K tokens, and 50% lower above that; average running cost is roughly 75% less than Haiku 4.5.
- Positioning: aimed at high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks like summarization, compaction, and database queries.
- Available now in the Claude Platform and Claude Code, and pairs well as a subagent with Opus 5.5 or Sonnet 5.5.
