Designer's two-year agent experiment: shipped code daily, then went back to Figma
matanSF · x · 2026-10-08
A product designer (@KalGrinberg) recounts how he used Factory agents to translate design direction into frontend code, shipping daily and barely opening Figma, becoming a "design engineer". Two years in, he concluded that engineers remain in a league of their own—he can't ship as fast and the process feels unwieldy. He's back in Figma on design systems and mockups, but agents stay in his workflow. His takeaway: teams need masterful designers, not engineering interns; agents close the gap but don't erase it.
