AI2 releases Stage 1 checkpoints with byte-level components already trained

In its Bolmo thread, AI2 detailed that the newly released Stage 1 checkpoints come with byte-level components already trained while the original model's weights remain unchanged.
Researchers can build on these to test new architectures and train the full system without repeating the initial stage.
