Debate: human progress has always been turning illegibility into comprehension

A counterargument: nearly every good thing humanity has achieved came from transforming surface-illegibility into comprehension — and that will remain true through the intelligence explosion, arguably becoming more important as we face a stream of initially illegible discoveries.
