Google launches SynthID.com, its AI watermark detector now covers all partner models
Ars Technica AI · rss · 2026-10-07
Google has upgraded its SynthID detector and launched a dedicated website, SynthID.com, letting anyone check images, videos, and audio for AI watermarks.
- Every piece of AI content from Gemini models carries an invisible SynthID signal: 180B+ images/videos and 240,000 years of audio so far;
- Previously outsiders had to ask Gemini itself—clunky and sometimes confusing—and the old detector only recognized Google's own watermarks, missing watermarked ChatGPT images;
- The new detector supports watermarks from all SynthID partners.
