Google opens SynthID Detector portal after watermarking 180B images and videos
GoogleAI · x · 2026-10-07
Google is opening up SynthID verification to everyone: anyone can now upload images, video, or audio to the SynthID Detector portal to check for watermarks — whether the content was generated by Google or partners like OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao, with Apple support coming soon.
Key numbers: Google has watermarked 180 billion images and videos plus more than 240,000 years of audio, and handles about 1 million verification requests daily. The new portal complements built-in verification already live in Search, the Gemini App, and Chrome.
