DHH says AI-written code means Rust everywhere; Tokio's creator is building Rust's Rails
glcst · x · 2026-10-07
DHH recently argued that if AI writes all the code, Rust will be everywhere. The Rust ecosystem lacks a full-stack framework like Rails — and Carl Lerche, creator of Tokio, is building one; its ORM, Toasty, now fully supports the Turso database.
The post jokes that the accompanying image was "begrudgingly approved by my marketing team." It reflects an infra-level bet: languages models are good at generating, and developer-friendly framework stacks, are being reshuffled by the AI coding wave.
