The Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) at UMass Amherst, a leading IR lab founded in 1992, is releasing Naget, an AI search product it calls its biggest technology transfer in a decade.
Claimed benchmarks: on WANDR (Perplexity's own dataset), Naget achieves 46% higher recall than Perplexity (GPT-6 Sol), Exa (xhigh), and Parallel (Ultra); it also shows 14%+ more queries with perfect recall on the recent Total Recall QA dataset.
Naget includes a Search Agent Marketplace where users can create and share search agents hosted on Naget's servers. The project is led by Chris Samarinas and Hamed Zamani in collaboration with UMass's AIX Initiative.
