One MCP server, mixed results: HTML UI support varies wildly across hosts
dfinke · x · 2026-10-07
Developer dfinke tested an MCP server with HTML UIs across multiple hosts: MCP Navigator and his custom MCP web client rendered them fine, but VS Code Stable didn't, VS Code Insiders needed tweaks, and Claude Code required a schema fix and still only showed text.
His takeaway: tools travel better than MCP UIs — same server, very different host support. A useful compatibility reference for anyone building MCP tools with visual interfaces.
