Isomorphic, DeepMind and Meta join DOE-NIH partnership to build an AI model of the cell

Alex Rives announced the Virtual Biology Initiative: a major partnership with the US Department of Energy and NIH to generate the data needed to build an accurate AI model of the cell, aiming to let biologists run experiments digitally.
- Founding partners: Isomorphic Labs, Google DeepMind, and Meta.
- Other participants: Allen Institute, Broad Institute, Gladstone Institutes, Human Cell Atlas, Human Protein Atlas, Wellcome Sanger Institute, plus NVIDIA.
The effort is positioned as the start of a large coordinated international project to map cellular biology and power digital models of life.
