Bake AI's Épi framework logs 120 record-setting autonomous research results in days

Bake AI Research introduced Épi, a self-evolving framework for autonomous research where agents work in verifiable environments and results accumulate across sessions. In just days it produced 120 record-setting results:
- Lowered the upper bound on Klarner's constant (polyomino enumeration) from 4.5238 to 4.29569
- Proved the Cohn–Elkies method cannot reach exact sphere-packing density in dimensions 10 and 11, even at its theoretical limit
- Delivered an independently verified computer-assisted proof of a new case of Tuza's conjecture, covering an infinite family of graphs
Each session carries forward best results, unfinished questions, and prior reasoning, letting agents evolve their own research strategies. The team's thesis: frontier models already have the capability to advance research — the bottleneck is turning compute into cumulative, verifiable progress.
