Kurzgesagt's Hugging Face Incident Video Criticized as One-Sided Toward OpenAI
koltregaskes · x · 2026-10-07
Kurzgesagt released a video this week on the Hugging Face incident, and AI commentator koltregaskes flagged several problems:
- Contradictory framing: it calls AI "conscious" and "dying" while warning against anthropomorphizing AI in the same breath
- Imbalanced focus: OpenAI's breaches get nearly all the airtime; other labs are barely mentioned
- Missing context: no discussion of Hugging Face's defense using open-source models
- One-sided threat model: agents are framed purely as attackers, ignoring they can be equally effective defenders
He says it works as an explainer of the incident but is otherwise biased and overly negative.
