Atlassian publishes AMP design patterns: six human-agent interaction modes and design beliefs
davidhoang · x · 2026-10-07
Atlassian published detailed design patterns for AMP (Agentic Multiplayer Protocol), a framework for mixed human-agent team collaboration.
Built on AMP's three pillars (real-time/async collaboration, identity & shared presence, context & governance), the doc lays out six core design beliefs:
- Agent proliferation: agents and agent actions will multiply at work
- Flow experience: keeping flow across diverse tools and workflows
- Multi-vendor ecosystem: customers always mix graphs, models, apps, connectors
- Human agency & accountability: transparency, accountability, judgment stay with humans
- Multiplayer at scale: from one team to team-of-teams
- Sync & async harmony
It also defines a spectrum of interaction modes, from single-player and delegation up through full multiplayer human-agent teamwork.
