Atlassian unveils AMP, a protocol for humans and AI agents to collaborate as teammates
davidhoang · x · 2026-10-07
At Atlassian's Team '26 Europe conference in Amsterdam, the company announced AMP (Agentic Multiplayer Protocol), a platform protocol for mixed human-agent collaboration.
The pitch: most enterprise AI adoption is stuck in "single-player mode" — one person typing into a chat window — which speeds up individuals but not teams. AMP aims to make AI multiplayer, with agents working alongside humans on the same surface.
AMP's three pillars:
- Real-time & async collaboration
- Identity & shared presence (agents joining the team)
- Context & governance
Atlassian stresses agents aren't replacing humans but joining them, building on its Teamwork Graph, Atlassian MCP, CLI, and emerging agent-to-agent standards.
