Reacting to OpenAI's release of model-generated math results, @Afinetheorem showed what four models (without search) think it would mean "if it were real," urging journalists to call mathematicians and AI researchers. @birchlse notes that Claude itself believes an event of this magnitude would be front-page news — extrapolating from the history of news — but today's news media simply can't handle this type of thing and are displaying extreme avoidance behaviour. Dioscuri amplified the observation.
