The ArtCraft project shipped open-source, subscription-free rebuilds of five Adobe apps in one week — Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator and Acrobat.
- PhotoCraft is a pure-Rust clean-room Photoshop reimplementation; of 309 test PSD files, 307 rendered identically
- Menus and shortcuts sit where Photoshop users expect; runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, even offline
- Every button doubles as a command, so AI agents can edit images the same way humans do
- Still early alpha, yet PhotoCraft reached 3,500 stars in under a week
Rebuilding software this big used to take years — a community just shipped five apps in a week and gave them away.
