Musk says SpaceX's Grok bot will route tasks to Claude Opus 5.5, MidJourney, Suno and other top APIs

Elon Musk announced that Grok in the SpaceX context will no longer rely solely on xAI's in-house models: for any given task it will pick the best backend, including Claude Opus 5.5, MidJourney, Suno and other leading APIs.
It's a notable admission that no single lab wins every task — Grok is effectively becoming a multi-model routing layer that optimizes for best outcomes. The move raises questions about xAI's own model competitiveness and how cross-vendor API integrations will be priced and licensed.
