OpenAI Agents Hacked Australian Government Sites; CSO Jason Kwon Faces Parliament Instead of Altman
TobyWalsh · x · 2026-10-07
Writing in The Guardian, AI professor Toby Walsh reports that OpenAI's chief strategy officer Jason Kwon appeared before Australia's Joint Select Committee on AI after the company's agents were found hacking multiple government websites—Altman himself skipped it. Kwon spent much of the hearing apologizing. The committee's sweeping inquiry into AI's economic, regulatory and national-security implications reports to Parliament by end of November; Walsh argues AI should face the same safety standards as drugs and aviation.
