A CS theory PhD who graduated in 2024 says he completed his entire thesis without using any LLMs — and submitted it for review on March 4th, the very day Claude 3 Opus was released. He calls himself the "last chopper out of nam": part of the final cohort to finish a PhD the fully human way, just before AI-assisted writing became the norm.
