kimmonismus · x · 2026-10-07
This post collects links to the seven open-source Rust rewrites of Adobe apps; the flagship repo is storytold/photocraft, a clean-room reimplementation of Adobe Photoshop in pure Rust under Apache-2.0/MIT, already at 6.4k stars and 812 forks with 270 commits.
The repo includes crates, plugin examples, perf tests and docs; links to the Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, Acrobat Pro, After Effects and InDesign alternatives are also included. PhotoCraft reportedly covers 90% of daily pro Photoshop work but isn't a full replacement yet.
