'Other agents are AI husbands, wabi is your AI wife': the case for proactive agents
soleio · x · 2026-10-07
Founder ekuyda coined a one-liner for wabi: other agents are your "AI husbands" waiting for you to assign chores, while wabi is your "AI wife" that does things without being asked. Designer Sonia Baschez quote-posted to expand: Silicon Valley keeps building her a husband when she wants a wife.
She doesn't want one-off task agents (booking flights, dinner reservations, tickets). She wants an AI that knows the family calendar, remembers the Saturday birthday gift hasn't been bought and sends options, reorders diapers, tracks upcoming bills, books dentist appointments, and plans the week's meals and groceries — managing the "47 things that need to happen." The post crystallizes a core agent design debate: reactive task-completers vs proactive household managers.
