Meta and Sierra unveil Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard for agent commerce
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-07
Meta and Sierra announced Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard defining how personal AI agents interact with businesses, co-developed with partners including Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe, and Walmart — open for anyone to implement.
The initiative addresses why companies like Amazon and United block agents and bots today: there is no shared method for agent-business interaction, and businesses can't distinguish bad actors. The protocol is positioned as critical infrastructure for scaling agentic commerce and the AI assistant ecosystem.
