OpenAI to watermark ChatGPT text in coming weeks to comply with EU AI Act

OpenAI announced it is extending content provenance to text, watermarking eligible ChatGPT and Codex outputs in the EU over the coming weeks to comply with the EU AI Act, while acknowledging significant limitations of current text watermarking tech. API customers can enable text watermarking for select models worldwide today; image and audio verification tools already exist.
