Day 4 of Cloudflare's Git challenge: keeping an agent team from stalling overnight
Al_Grigor · x · 2026-10-07
Alexey Grigorev is competing in Cloudflare's contest to build the next Git platform, handing the project to a team of AI coding agents to solve change clashes and disk bloat when many agents edit one project.
Architecture: four agent teams — one builds Agent Branches (a Git server giving each task its own copy of the project); the other three build a dashboard, a launcher deciding which agent runs next, and messaging between desktop and server.
Day 4: one task now starts the next with no human prompt. But overnight the queue still ran dry: two lead agents died within a minute after exceeding memory limits (cause unknown) and were restored from saved conversations; after two batches of ten workers, 2 hours passed with no useful work. Investigation showed many "ready" tasks in the tracker weren't ready — some belonged to replaced lead agents, others were mere proposals — and the idle-agent wakeup service was stuck.
