Google and Constellation Energy announced a long-term clean energy deal bringing 890 MW of new nuclear capacity to the PJM grid—equivalent to a new reactor—to meet AI-driven power demand.
- 20-year PPA: Constellation will invest over $4.3B upgrading 11 nuclear units in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to unlock additional firm power
- Jobs: sustains 4,400 existing jobs and creates 7,200 construction jobs
- Extra 2,700 MW covered under a separate 15-year energy supply agreement
- AI angle: Constellation adopted Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise in a five-year alliance to build an "AI for Energy" blueprint for grid operations
