My code is disposable now: 178 lines of Go and the case for regenerative software
carsonfarmer · x · 2026-10-07
carsonfarmer describes a new project where upfront design work meant only a handful of prompts produced iroh-acp-go — about 178 lines of Go letting an editor use a coding agent on another machine with no intermediary. Code that small is cheap to rewrite, so he now treats code as disposable. Citing Chad Fowler's "regenerative software": if an agent can regenerate the code anytime, you protect the thinking — what the program should do, what to leave out, and why — not the code itself.
