AI studio Fable will submit its AI-made animated feature 'Gods Don't Give Gifts' for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars — the first real test of the Academy's generative AI rules.
- Created by AI YouTuber Gossip Goblin (Zack London), an anthology of four shorts satirizing humanity's use of AI to overcome death and memory
- US release moved from Oct 30 to Dec 4, backed by a full awards push: Academy screenings, LA billboards, and theatrical trailers
- Carries an R rating from the MPA; no distributor announced
- Fable CEO Edward Saatchi calls it 'a seminal, historic moment in animation... this generation's Toy Story'
- The collision between the Academy's AI disclosure rules and a real submission will define compliance boundaries for AI filmmaking
