Mandiant founder's new firm finds 90+ zero-days at Fortune 500s with AI agents
Scobleizer · x · 2026-10-07
On an a16z podcast, Mandiant founder Kevin Mandia discussed his new company Armadin Security, which uses AI agents to attack customer networks before criminals do. Agents map every service, route, and system from the outside in a black-box fashion and re-attack whenever something changes — uncovering 90+ zero-days in Fortune 500 production environments since January, typically notifying the CISO within 48 hours, with autonomous patching as the eventual goal.
Mandia noted AI-based attacks exhaust all routes and find logic flaws rather than code flaws in custom apps, without source code access. The models are post-trained with real red teamers and exploit developers. He said AI changed everything — "everything I did is dead" — prompting his return to founding.
