beffjezos · x · 2026-10-07
Mistral released Mistral Large 4 (aka Le Chonk): a natively multimodal model with 1T total parameters and 49B active. It claims the best open-weights results from Europe or the US on aggregated benchmarks, state-of-the-art on cyber defense, manufacturing and finance workloads, and beats closed frontier models on visual grounding. Trained and deployable end-to-end from Europe via Mistral Cloud. API available now; open weights due end of October.
