Turo's accidental FSD rental monopoly: only in California, no search filter
BecauseCulture · x · 2026-10-07
Tesla FSD rentals are essentially only findable on Turo and mostly in California. With Hertz and Sixt having dropped Tesla, Turo sits on an accidental monopoly in FSD rentals — without even offering a search filter for it.
The poster also flags the insurance friction: standard car insurance covers regular rentals but not P2P rentals, so customers pay extra for FSD rentals. Insurance partnerships are a key opportunity for competitors, especially as FSD lowers risk.
