South Korean officials are investigating whether AI models were used in recent cyberattacks on banks. President Lee Jae Myung said "signs have emerged" that AI was involved, causing considerable public concern.
- Affected institutions include Hana Bank, KB Kookmin Bank and Shinhan Bank
- Shinhan confirmed 25,000 people's credit information leaked; Hana leaked 89 customers' data; Kookmin affected 99 customers and 20 current/former employees
- The National Office of Investigation has opened an inquiry; attribution remains unclear
