A developer open-sourced claude-codex-cost, a VS Code extension that shows your month-to-date Claude Code and Codex spending right in the status bar (e.g. "Claude $278 · Codex $822"), with cost and token breakdown on hover.
It bundles ccusage, reading the local /.claude and /.codex logs and pricing tokens at public API rates. It refreshes every 5 minutes, resets on the 1st, needs no configuration or API key, works across macOS/Linux/Windows — a handy way to keep tabs on how much your coding agents really burn each month.
