St. Louis Fed Publishes 16 Ramp Data Sets on Business AI Adoption, Economists Question Representativeness
TaniaBabina · x · 2026-10-07
The St. Louis Fed now publishes 16 data sets from fintech company Ramp tracking how businesses adopt AI, positioning itself as a source for understanding AI's effects on productivity and jobs. Economist Nathan Goldschlag welcomed the release but cautioned that customer datasets don't cover the universe of businesses and can give a warped view without careful adjustment. He suggests analyzing sample composition like the Brynjolfsson et al. ADP 'Canaries' paper, or reweighting for representativeness as Akcigit's team did with Intuit data.
