Cloudflare calls on developers to build the next agent-native Git platform on Artifacts
dinasaur_404 · x · 2026-10-06
Cloudflare argues GitHub was built for human developers, but the next generation of software will be written by hundreds or thousands of agents working on the same codebase simultaneously — raising unsolved questions about coordination, conflict handling, review, and tracking why changes were made.
The company points to Artifacts, its versioned Git-speaking filesystem launched earlier this year, as the foundation: programmatically creatable and forkable repos, versioned storage for code and agent context, and Git operations agents already know. Cloudflare now wants developers to build the coordination, review/merge, and developer-experience layers on top — effectively the next Git platform.
