Grid waits hit 7 years for 100MW in Northern Virginia; Crusoe cuts it to 1 year, valued at $30.9B

Power has become the new bottleneck for AI. In Northern Virginia, the world's largest data center market, Dominion Energy says securing more than 100MW for a new data center can take up to seven years.
Crusoe inverts the traditional playbook (find location → request grid connection → wait years): it finds abundant or underutilized energy, builds infrastructure around it, and brings AI compute to the power. It claims to have cut the wait for a 100MW Texas project to about one year.
Investors are betting on the thesis: Crusoe raised $3.9B in September at a $30.9B valuation.
