Autonomous Lamp: $499 open-source desk companion robot ships with Jev reasoning classifier
dee_hw · x · 2026-10-06
Autonomous launched Lamp, a fully-assembled open-source companion robot priced at $499 (down from $999) with free shipping Oct 29. The team started by asking whether AI agents like Claude Code and Codex could be brought into the physical world with eyes, ears, a voice and a body. Internally, a layer called Jev acts as a classifier deciding which requests need deep reasoning versus instant answers, speeding up responses. It now uses ElevenLabs Eleven v3 voice, and the build logs play up its personality.
