Gamma 5 launches as from-scratch creation share falls from 59% to 31% in a year

Gamma CEO shares a telling stat: in Q1 2025, 59% of everything made on Gamma started from a blank page; a year later that share is down to 31%. Most decks are now remixes of existing material — last quarter's deck, a Notion doc, a Slack thread.
Gamma 5, the company's biggest overhaul ever, rebuilds import from the ground up:
- PowerPoint and PDF files now come in with original layouts preserved and fully editable, where the old generator kept only the text;
- Brand templates, approved charts and legal footers survive the import intact;
- The motivation: "everyone is sick of generic AI" — without a step change in visual variety, Gamma's output would look like every other AI tool.
Decks with heavily custom charts will still stress the importer, but the competitive axis is shifting from generation to preserving enterprise assets.
