NVIDIAAI · x · 2026-10-06
NVIDIA released its State of AI in Telecommunications report and blog laying out why carriers are building on open models:
- 89% of respondents say open source models and software are important to their AI strategy; 66% report active AI use, up from 49% last year.
- AT&T, SoftBank and Indosat are adopting open models for use cases like autonomous network operations and local-language adaptation.
- The report cites five strategic values: frontier-level intelligence at lower cost, fine-tuning on proprietary network/customer data, auditability and governance, flexible deployment across cloud/private/edge, and reselling locally adapted AI services to enterprises.
- NVIDIA positions its full stack as the way to turn open models into specialized telecom agents while operators stay in control.
