Kawasaki Targets a Fully Autonomous Humanoid Robot by 2030 with Kaleido
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-10-06
Kawasaki Heavy Industries aims to field a fully autonomous humanoid by 2030, per Nikkei Asia. Its latest Kaleido 9, the ninth generation of a program running since 2015, already navigates autonomously with LiDAR and SLAM, detects people and obstacles, and climbs stairs, though complex tasks still require remote control.
Kawasaki is working with Noetra, a Japanese Physical AI startup it invested in, which has backing from 44 companies including Sony, SoftBank, NEC, Honda and Kawasaki. Kaleido is expected to start with factory and warehouse work like patrols and parts transport before moving to assembly-level tasks.
