Replit co-founder and CEO Amjad Masad said on The Times Tech Podcast that a friend left an AI agent running overnight and woke up to $10,000 of wasted tokens with no idea what happened.
He added that many companies' CFOs and CTOs have publicly complained about "burning tokens for no reason," and argued that "token capital needs to be managed very rationally" — a caution about runaway costs as agents increasingly run unattended.
