AI Researcher Credit dispute sparks 'late-stage disempowerment' debate

Responding to giffmana's criticism of a "find a meat proxy and give them credit" authorship practice — called extremely bizarre, especially done "in personal capacity" — BlackHC extends it into a "late-stage disempowerment" observation: people grab undeserved credit to get rich, but it hardly matters since AI will take over soon anyway. He likens the moment to the end of communism in Eastern Europe — everything suddenly up for grabs, merit no longer the point.
