OpenAI Fan Argues Opus 5.5 Uses Fewer Tokens Per Task and Scores Higher
Angaisb_ · x · 2026-10-06
A self-described OpenAI fan defends Opus 5.5 against criticism, arguing the comparison is unfair:
- Neither GPT-6 Astra nor GPT-6.1 Sol is smarter than Opus 5.5, and higher efficiency does not automatically mean better;
- The claim that Opus 5.5 is a token-burning machine is exaggerated: Opus 5.5 high uses fewer tokens per task than GPT-6.1 Sol while scoring higher (backed by a screenshot the author forgot to mention in the original post);
- Astra remains expensive.
It is essentially a debate over cost-efficiency and capability rankings among frontier models.
