Google Docs and Drive add native Markdown editing, built for human-agent collaboration
Saboo_Shubham_ · x · 2026-10-06
Google Workspace officially announced that Docs and Drive now natively support viewing, editing, and collaborating on Markdown (.md) files, with rendered previews in Drive. Google explicitly notes Markdown is the standard format widely used by LLMs to preserve structured content; previously files had to be converted, often breaking formatting and stripping comments.
Now users and agents can collaborate on the same file without writing raw syntax or handling manual conversions — positioning Docs as a shared file substrate for multi-agent workflows.
